Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Ingredients
- 3 very ripe bananas, mashed (about 300 g without peel)
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 150 g brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 190 g all-purpose flour
- 130 g chocolate chips, I used dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a standard loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until mostly smooth.
- Whisk in the melted butter and brown sugar until fully combined.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt and mix until smooth.
- Fold in the flour just until no dry streaks remain, being careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
- Bake for 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely before slicing.

How to Make Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Tips & Variations
It’s okay if your bananas are a little bit brown on the outside, that means they are super sweet on the inside and have a super strong banana flavor!
To keep your loaf as moist and bouncy as possible, only the mix the flour until it’s incorporated and not any more.
I personally like to use dark chocolate as my chocolate chips because they are a little less sweet, which compliments the sweet banana bread a little better in my opinion.
If you don’t have any butter, feel free to use a neutral oil! I’ve found that better yields the richest loaf, but any fat type works.
